Biography
I am a queer, transgender Filipino born choreographer, dance artist, facilitator, and activist. I was raised in the Philippines and am currently based in Berlin, Germany. My work focuses on the recognition of intersectional identities, reconnecting with my ancestry, and decentralizing western ideologies in dance making. I hold an MFA in Dance from UCLA and my training includes Filipino Traditional Dance, Contact Improvisation, Kung Fu, Improvisation, walking meditation, Authentic Movement and Contemporary Dance. I examine how survival strategies can be translated into a communal physical practice, which I then use as a catalyst to a creative healing process. In 2021, Anya Cloud and I started a project based dance company called The Love Makers. Together we created both We Are (nothing) Everything, premiered in 2023 at Dock 11, and Long & Wild, premiered in 2023 at Tanzfabrik. My works have been presented by Tanzfabrik eV, DOCK 11, ADA Studios, What You See Festival, and Movement Research at the Judson Church among others. I am currently co-founding a new dance festival format in Berlin with Nara Virgens called Emerging Change Dance Festival, which curates artists who identify as Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (QTBIPoC).
