Biography

Jojo Büttler is a white, non-disabled performer and creator in the field of Physical Theater and dance and also works as an audiodescriber. They studied Physical Theatre at Folkwang University in Essen and trained at the Dance Intensive Program Berlin. Most recently they worked on the multisensorial piece "Approaching Care" in collaboration with Anajara Amarante and the dramaturg Ari Althaus. The work was part of the series "neworks - Aesthetics of Access #2" at ada Studio Berlin. They provide physical and choreographic input for other pieces and groups; past collaborations include “Grenouille” and “Bookpink” with Theatre im Nu and "Wiegenlieder” with Claudia Garbe. Since 2023 they are performing for the Physical Theater collective Armada Theater in the piece "DWDW – Die Sache mit dem Wasser." In recent years they have also worked as access assistance in theater and performance spaces and aim to incorporate this knowledge into their artistic work to create more access. Jojo seeks to question, challenge, and soften structures and aims to create shared experiences.
