Biographie
Ángel Gutiérrez is an Argentine–Spanish dancer and choreographer working between Gothenburg and Barcelona. His artistic practice moves across contemporary dance, opera, and interdisciplinary performance, with a strong focus on the body as a site of emotional, psychological, and collective experience. His work often bridges dance, music, and technology, engaging with themes related to mental health, vulnerability, and community.
Ángel has collaborated with major European institutions such as Scottish Opera, Welsh National Opera, Malmö Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Regio di Torino, and will soon work at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. Alongside his performance career, he is the co-founder of the Swedish production company Tartago Handelsbolag and Homeland Dance Company, platforms dedicated to supporting contemporary performing arts projects with a socially engaged perspective.
As a creator, Ángel develops stage works, site-specific projects, and participatory formats that prioritize physical presence, poetic imagery, and emotional resonance. His projects often address complex inner landscapes without explicit narratives, allowing audiences to connect through sensation and imagination. He is currently interested in building long-term collaborations and artistic processes in northern Sweden, particularly in the Västerbotten region, expanding his practice through dialogue with local communities and landscapes
