Biography

Mirjam studied dance at Basel Theatre, Vienna State Opera, Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. In collaboration with her Ensemble she produces her own work in Germany and Switzerland and tours internationally. In 2021 she was awarded the June Johnson Newcomer Prize in the frame of the Swiss Performing Arts Awards. Her artistic practice focuses on improvisation, instant composition and the correlation of sensory perception and physicality. Collaborating across disciplines, she investigates the relationship between the audience and the moving body within different contexts of space, staging her work in the theatre, gallery, outdoors and in the public space. Mirjam is a teacher and lecturer for improvisation, instant composition and inclusive dance and leads international inclusive and intercultural dance projects.
Her most recent work-series PLAY
(2020-2024) premiered at KINDL Museum of Contemporary Art Berlin and Theater ROXY Birsfelden. Since then, PLAY has been shown outdoors (48-Stunden-Neukölln, Tanzfest Schweiz national tour, Performing Arts Festival Berlin) and was restaged as a durational performance at Kunsthalle Palazzo Liestal, FASONO Art Space and Dock11 Berlin. In 2024, she opened Kunstfest Weimar with the site-specific performance OPENING for the inclusive Forward Dance Company of LOFFT Theater Leipzig, which followed their successful collaboration GESTALTEN (2023), a durational performance staged at the Monument to the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig.
